ManagedMethods Wins Best Overall IT Solution in 2019 EdTech Breakthrough Awards

Boulder, Colo. June 12, 2019 — ManagedMethods, a leading provider of cloud application security solutions, announced today that EdTech Breakthrough has selected the company as the winner of its “Best Overall IT Solution for the Education Market” award in the inaugural EdTech Breakthrough Awards program. EdTech Breakthrough is a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies and solutions in the global education market.

The K-12 Cybersecurity Resource Center’s 2018 State of K-12 Cybersecurity Report, sponsored by ManagedMethods, found that a new cybersecurity incident strikes K-12 schools every three days. The study also found that nearly 60 percent of these incidents result in students’ personal data being compromised. ManagedMethods’ mission is to protect students and schools against these threats.

“ManagedMethods has worked closely with IT leaders and system administrators in various school districts to build a product for the education industry that proves that cloud security doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive,” says James Johnson, managing director, EdTech Breakthrough. “As schools embrace cloud application technology, such as Google for Education and Microsoft Office 365, student and staff personally identifiable data has suffered hundreds of breach incidents. ManagedMethods has built a powerful platform for the education market and we are thrilled to recognize the company in the 2019 EdTech Breakthrough Awards.”

The mission of the EdTech Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize innovation, hard work and success in a range of educational technology categories, including student engagement, school administration, adaptive learning, STEM education, e-learning, career preparation and many more. This year’s program attracted more than 1,500 nominations from over 12 different countries across the globe.

K-12 schools face difficult cybersafety and security issues, in addition to administrators maintaining compliance with data regulations, protecting student and staff personally identifiable information and creating a safe learning environment on a limited budget. All the while, schools are grappling with societal issues and being targeted by cybercriminals.

“We think that we owe it to our children to do better, both in terms of securing their data privacy and their safety on campus,” says Charlie Sander, chairman and chief executive officer of ManagedMethods. “When ManagedMethods broke into the cloud security market in 2017, we wanted to show the education industry that cloud security doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. As we continued to work closely with K-12 IT staff, we realized that our technology could also be used to screen for student safety red flags. Combining cybersecurity and safety capabilities in our platform has been a boon for school districts as they grapple with these challenges. Our customers love that they can use ManagedMethods to secure sensitive data in the cloud as well as alert staff to self-harm, cyberbullying, violence and explicit content risks,” Charlie Sander explains.
