ManagedMethods Announces Support of Gmail and Office 365 Email Featuring Check Point SandBlast Zero-Day Protection

(Las Vegas, Nevada April 19, 2017) — Today at the Check Point CPX 2017 conference ManagedMethods, a provider of cloud security solutions, announced its newest product feature and an expansion of its integration with Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP). ManagedMethods’ Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) solution, Cloud Access Monitor now supports Google Gmail and Microsoft Office 365 Email, with an added layer of defense provided by Check Point’s SandBlast™ Zero-Day Protection and DLP.

The benefit of cloud-based email is more effective and efficient communication, but it is also a leading source of malware. According to the 2016 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, email attachments are the most common avenue for malware delivery, with users opening and clicking on about 12 percent of malicious attachments they received. Employees acting in the interest of productivity and collaboration can innocently leave their company vulnerable.

‘While the rise of cloud computing introduces new security risks, email remains one of the most critical threat vectors,’ said Garrett Becker, Principal Security Analyst at 451 Research. ‘It’s clear that preventing malicious files from reaching users in the first place is critical to avoiding infection, though most cloud-based email programs do not provide sufficient security to detect and thwart malicious attacks.’

Cloud Access Monitor’s newest feature provides critical visibility into Gmail and Office 365 Email to prevent email-based security threats. As part of the ManagedMethods partnership, Check Point customers will also have the power of SandBlast’s Threat Emulation engine and Check Point DLP to provide multi-layered defense against known and unknown threats and prevent data leaks. Suspicious emails are quickly quarantined and inspected for malware and sensitive data, running in a virtual sandbox to discover malicious behavior before it enters the corporate network.

“The combination of Cloud Access Monitor’s new Gmail and Office 365 Email scanning functionality with Check Point’s SandBlast product provides unprecedented protection for corporate SaaS email environments, said Charlie Sander, CEO of ManagedMethods. “Now IT professionals have the ability to eliminate one of the most common sources of cloud security risks.”

“Enterprises are increasingly at risk of falling victim to a targeted email attack, and hackers’ methods are constantly evolving, requiring enterprises to use proactive, sophisticated security measures in order to stay one step ahead of the latest threats,” said Alon Kantor, Vice President of Business Development at Check Point. “SandBlast brings one of the highest levels of protection in the industry to Gmail customers in a pure cloud solution that delivers safe content quickly, with full visibility and management through its cloud-based portal.”

With the addition of Gmail and Office 365 Email, ManagedMethods now provides security to the most popular cloud productivity applications, including Google G Suite, Microsoft Office 365, OneDrive, Box, Dropbox, and Slack.
